Karina Oldemans is an internationally renowned interior designer and connoisseur of antique textiles. She was born and raised in Finland, educated in France and is living and working in Los Angeles. Karina studied interior design in Paris, France, graduating in the Interior Architecture department of the Ecole Superieure des Arts Modernes and has enjoyed a thriving design practice in Los Angeles since 1975. Her creative talent, attention to detail and understanding of her clients’ needs have made her a sought after designer. Karina’s extensive travels and knowledge of art, architecture and design inspire the visual sophistication she brings to her interiors.
Named one of six “Rising Stars” in the country by Interior Design magazine in 1995, Karina and her work have been published in the best national and international design publications. She has been featured on Discovery Channel’s Interior Motives program, on HGTV and on ABC’s Beautiful Homes and Great Estates and Finland’s Inno. In addition to penning her own blog, Karina has written articles on interior design, textiles and oriental rugs and lectures on subjects relating to art and design. In 2013 Karina launched a line of accent pillows from vintage embroideries from Mary Ann Designs under the name OCARINE (www.ocarine.com). Her passions include collecting antique textiles, with a focus on 19th century Kashmiri and rare European Paisley shawls as well as Tibetan Tiger rugs and Tribal art. Karina speaks English, Finnish, French, and Swedish fluently and is currently studying Mandarin Chinese. Her clientele includes entertainment personalities, famous authors and diplomats.
